Hunter Valentine

Blasting out their inimitable rock since the summer of 2004, Hunter Valentine has blossomed, establishing a devoted fan base via their self-financed eponymous 2005 EP and building on that foundation with their 2007 full-length The Impatient Romantic (True North Records). Razing crowds from coast to coast in their decrepit van, nailing select European and U.S. Cities over the course of 200-plus shows, the trio has garnered an international fan base as they build out of their native Canada. Hunter Valentine are now poised to break through with their gripping follow up Lessons From the Late Night (Tommy Boy/Fontana/Universal).

Raucous and direct, the outfit comprised of vocalist/guitarist Kiyomi McCloskey, bassist Adrienne Lloyd and drummer Laura Petracca exemplifies girls with a united goal, intense friendship, respect and ability that solidifies their edgy albeit refined music. There’s no hyperbole when it comes to Hunter Valentine. Everything has a direct message, delivered with a devout refusal for glitz or glamour. The hard line says it all, conveyed by confident, unbridled rock ‘n’ roll.

Stephanie Bosch

Singer/songwriter/musician grew up schooled in rock‘n’roll and hockey. At first it was the love of the game that taught Stephanie about hard work and dedication, but it became more apparent that her true passion lay with words and music. As Stephanie was growing up music was constantly blaring from somewhere whether it came from the local rock station, a favorite album from her parents record collection or her hometown rink in Devon, Alberta. Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Doors and Tom Petty rank high in shaping her early tastes. As she grew older, Alanis Morrisette and Our Lady Peace contributed to her stand out flavor.

Side by side with rink time, she started piano lessons from the age of six then picked up the guitar at sixteen where it literally attached itself to her soul. She’s been a musical artist ever since and is a stand out role model for today’s youth because of her `be real’ mentality and her tenacious appetite to reach her goals. Plus, she still kicks ass on the ice.

Sick of Sarah

“The women who make up this Minnesota quartet bow at the altar of riot grrls’ days gone by while simultaneously thumbing their noses at scowling chick-rock clichés. The songs are as bracing as they are familiar…. For Fans of: The Breeders, Sleater-Kinney” – SPIN MAGAZINE

Vanity Theft has an edgy, pop sound, channeling The Runaways and other post riot-grrrl indie groups. After releasing their latest EP, Anatomy, in October, Vanity Theft is back for more. Their video for the Houses’ Haunted Tape Remix of “Anatomy” is visually stunning, full of quick cuts that break up a general monochrome feeling with scenes of bright greens, golds and purples, which add a punkish feeling to the video.

Amanda Zelina is The Coppertone.

Zelina was once told while jamming with Blues Icon Billy Gibbons of the band ZZTOP at a local vintage guitar store in Hollywood California ” …You play that guitar mighty fine, you’re going to make it…I’ll see you again someday I’m sure of it.” With a laugh, Amanda explains, “Whether or not he was being honest or simply trying to hit on me didn’t matter. happenstance is something I don’t believe in. trusting my gut is.” and with that mentality “The Coppertone” was born.

Play/Start

play/start is a group of four queer musicians who came together in 2007 with the intent of making music that culls from all of their collected musical experiences and influences. Pop, metal, blues, dance, new wave, garage punk and riot grrrl are just some of the terms that have been used to describe their music. And, somehow, they all seem to fit together to create hot, danceable power pop music. Their on-stage energy is contagious, turning any show into a dance party.

Rachel McCully

Rachel McCully is a 24 year old singer songwriter, who moved from Northern Ireland 6 years ago to Canada to pursue her dream and love for music. Music became a big part of Rachel’s life after the loss of her mother to breast cancer 9 years ago. After picking up the guitar and begging her father to teach her, Rachel soon began writing her feelings down on paper. Soon after, the music meshed with these words and Rachel's songwriting career had begun.
4 years later, Rachel moved with her family to Canada, to begin, essentially what became, her new life. From drawing crowds into the small basement bars and cafes in Ottawa and Montreal, to being given the opportunity to play at outdoor festivals, Rachel’s voice soon became one that fans adored.
Rachel released her first demo last year, FLY, which was featured on local television in Ottawa. FLY was a project to raise money and awareness about breast cancer, something that had affected Rachel’s life for so many years. “After losing my mother to breast cancer, I decided that since she gave me this gift, I would give it back by helping those around me.” Rachel states. Through fundraisers at local events and donating the proceeds of her cd’s and merchandise, Rachel is on her way to achieving her goal.

“I always used to say I wish I could turn back time and have my mother back with me. I then came to the realization that I cant turn back time, but I can change the future. This is one small step for me in that change, and I hope that I can use my music to save someone else wanting time to go back. I want to use my music for the sole purpose of fighting against breast cancer and see the day that mankind beats it.”
